Dhāraṇā 2.0: The Season of Swādhyāya
From the very beginning, Dhāraṇā was never meant to be another fancy app that tells you to do more. It was meant to help you be more: more conscious, more aligned, more whole.
The vision was always clear, but the path wasn’t. Through the 1.x versions of the app, we learned (mostly through trial and error) what truly aligns with our intent.
Somewhere along that journey, I was reminded of Pūrṇam Mantra from the Īśāvāsya Upaniṣad and it instantly became our compass:
“That is Whole and this is Whole.
From the Whole comes the Whole.
When the Whole is taken from the Whole,
the Whole remains.
Peace. Peace. Peace.”
Earlier, we built many things at once, but few felt complete. Now, our guiding principle is simple: completeness over complexity. Every release will be small, stable, and meaningful: a whole in itself.
Built for Founders, Changemakers, and Solopreneurs
I’ve always imagined Dhāraṇā as something that could help anyone live consciously. But trying to build for everyone meant we weren’t going deep enough for anyone.
So for now, Dhāraṇā 2.0 is focused on founders, changemakers, and solopreneurs, people who hold big visions and wrestle daily with chaos, self-doubt, and the challenge of staying centered.
This focus helps us build with intention. Others (professionals, students, creators) will still find value here, but for now, our work centers on these three archetypes. Once we serve them well, we’ll expand thoughtfully to others.
If you don’t fit that label but still feel drawn to Dhāraṇā, I’d love to hear from you. Write to us at founders@dharana.ai. Your reflections will help shape where we go next.
What’s New in 2.0: Journaling as Swādhyāya
Dhāraṇā 2.0 begins with one simple, complete feature: Journaling as Swādhyāya: the art of studying oneself.
In Aṣṭāṅga Yoga, Swādhyāya means study of oneself, both the outer manifestations (actions, habits, behaviours) and the inner world (thoughts, feelings and emotions).
We want to help people be mindful, not mechanical. To build energy, not deplete it. And for that, awareness comes first.
That’s why we start with journaling.
The Dhāraṇā Journal helps you see both. Each entry becomes a small mirror, showing where your Māra (inner resistance) and Buddha (awareness and strength) appear in your everyday life.
Over time, you’ll begin to see patterns: how you think, feel, and evolve through different seasons of your journey.
Seasons: A New Beginning
With this release, you’ll define your Season: a focused period in your life dedicated to what truly matters right now.
Your journal entries (and soon, your reflections and plans) will connect to this Season, helping you see how your focus and energy shift over time.
Future updates will let you move between Seasons, intentionally and with awareness.
What’s Next
Dhāraṇā 2.0 is the beginning of a new rhythm. From here, we’ll add:
- Deeper Māra–Buddha insights from your journals
- Smooth Season transitions and long-term reflection
- Guided practices that link awareness to action
Our goal is to make Dhāraṇā a living system for conscious work, not another productivity app, but a companion for mindful creation.
Thank you for walking with us. Welcome to the Season of Swādhyāya: a time to slow down, study yourself, and build from wholeness.
With gratitude,
Shankardevy
