Dharma in the Age of AI
A monthly online exploration of AI through the lens of Dharma, centered on two questions: how the surplus AI creates can be distributed rather than hoarded (Surplus AI), and the human capacities we must cultivate to use these powers wisely (The Missing Formation.md).
We meet once a month to look at AI through the lens of Dharma, without making hype or fear the only available moods. The questions are practical and human: what does this technology ask of our attention, our work, our communities, and our sense of responsibility?
The framing comes from an old story. The tale of GenAI is akin to the story of Barbarika: a being of immense capability whose power, vowed in good faith, could destroy every side of the war. Like Barbarika, GenAI carries unmatched potential shaped by people who have not fully weighed the consequences of their creation. Unlike that story, we do not yet have a Krishna to place a check on its power.
More than the story, two living questions sit at the center of these ongoing meetings:
- Surplus AI: how can the surplus that AI creates be distributed rather than hoarded?
- The Missing Formation.md: what human capacities must we cultivate to use these new powers wisely?
Some sessions lean philosophical, some stay concrete. The thread is conscious technology, and the inner state from which we build and use it.
